The SAMARITAINE CIRCLE luxury membership program is provided by SAMARITAINE SAS (registered in the Paris Trade and Companies Register under number 537 758 583) and its affiliates (“SAMARITAINE”).
These general terms and conditions (hereinafter referred to as the “Terms and Conditions”) govern the relationship between SAMARITAINE and members of the SAMARITAINE CIRCLE membership program (“Members”) in connection with purchases made at the Samaritaine department store located at 9 rue de la Monnaie in Paris (the “Department Store”).
The SAMARITAINE loyalty program (“SAMARITAINE CIRCLE” or “Program”) has five membership tiers: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Ambassador (“Tier(s)”). The Ambassador tier is available exclusively by invitation based on specific objective criteria, such as the client’s purchase history, activity, loyalty, and active participation. If an Ambassador member does not comply with our Fair Use Guidelines, we reserve the right to adjust their tier to align with their actual spending. For Members who have been members for less than 12 months, or for those who have recently been elevated to a new level, the level adjustment will be based on their pre-tax spending during their current membership period or since their last upgrade (whichever is shorter). Program privileges, rewards, and benefits vary depending on tier. Click here for more information.
A membership account is valid for a membership term of 365 days from the date of enrollment (“Membership Term”).
1. Eligibility
The Program is available to clients aged 18 and over.
The SAMARITAINE CIRCLE digital membership card (“Card”) allows SAMARITAINE CIRCLE members (“Member(s)”) to enjoy the benefits and rewards of the Program as set out periodically by SAMARITAINE, subject to these Terms and Conditions.
Members must use the Card solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Multiple member accounts are prohibited, and SAMARITAINE reserves the right to merge, modify, or cancel duplicate accounts belonging to the same Member.
Members will not be assigned a Membership Tier based solely on the purchase of tobacco products or alcoholic beverages.
2. Registration
Clients can register for the Program in-store.
Members who register for the Program will earn Reward Points (“Points”) on their purchases made on the same day. Points will be credited to the Member’s account within seven (7) business days.
New Members are entitled to a one-time welcome bonus of five hundred (500) Points on their first transaction (for a minimum purchase of one hundred (100) euros) made within thirty (30) days of the registration date for participating brands. Welcome Bonus Points will be deducted from the Member’s account in the event of a return or refund of items purchased during the first transaction and cannot be awarded during the next transaction.
3. Privileges, rewards and benefits
Program privileges, rewards, and benefits vary depending on tier. Click here for more information.
Terms and Conditions for specific SAMARITAINE CIRCLE privileges:
Birthday Bonus Points: Qualified Members will receive the following Birthday Bonus Points on their first transaction during their birthday month on participating brands:
- Ambassador Members: 7 Points
- Diamond Members: 6 Points
- Platinum Members: 5 Points
- Gold Members: 4 Points
- Silver Members: 4 Points
To receive Birthday Bonus Points, Members must have joined SAMARITAINE CIRCLE at least one month prior to their birthday month. Members who register during their birthday month are not eligible to receive Birthday Bonus Points in the year of their registration. No Birthday Bonus Points will be credited to a Member’s account if the date of birth is not indicated in the Member’s account or if the date of birth is declared after the transaction. Birthday Bonus Points can only be used once per year.
Additional transportation services: Diamond and Ambassador Members are entitled to additional transportation services between the Department Store and a nearby hotel on the day of their purchase at SAMARITAINE (within a reasonable distance depending on the country and location of the SAMARITAINE Department Store). The service is exclusively for named individuals and may only be used by eligible Members and their companions, subject to the vehicle’s maximum capacity.
Service availability is subject to change without prior notice. SAMARITAINE is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage to persons or property resulting from the use of complementary transportation services.
Access to the lounge (Apartment): Platinum, Diamond, and Ambassador Members have access to the SAMARITAINE lounge located in the Department Store (with the option of inviting up to one guest for Platinum Members and up to two guests for Diamond Members). Depending on the seating capacity in the lounge and the number of clients in the Department Store, SAMARITAINE reserves the right to limit the number of guests per Member. Ultimately, the decision rests with the General Manager of the Department Store.
4. Membership tier changes and renewals
An eligible Purchase is recorded as “Tier Points” based on the net amount of the transaction, excluding taxes (i.e., the transaction amount after deduction of taxes, discounts, refunds, predetermined exchange rate set by Samaritaine, and other adjustments) within a Membership Term. The “Tier Points” earned on each eligible Purchase are based on the transaction amount in euros, excluding tax.
If a Member earns sufficient Tier Points within a period of 365 days to reach the next tier, the Member will be upgraded accordingly, except for the Ambassador tier (available exclusively by invitation only). If an upgraded Member requests a refund for the transaction that resulted in the tier upgrade, the Member will be immediately downgraded to the lower tier, and SAMARITAINE reserves the right to cancel any privileges or points granted as part of the upgrade.
If a Member does not earn sufficient Tier Points to retain their current Tier by the end of the Membership Term, they will be downgraded to the applicable lower Tier, based on their cumulative spending during that Membership Term.
Any change to Tier will renew the Membership Term for an additional 365 days, starting from the day following the qualifying purchase that triggered the Tier change. Members may check their Tier and points balance upon request in-store.
5. Reward points
Members may earn Points on eligible Purchases by identifying themselves to the Department Store staff, in particular by presenting their Card.
Unless otherwise specified, Click here for a list of participating brands. The Department Store staff may ask to see a valid photo ID from the Member in order to verify their identity.
Points will be credited to the Member’s account within seven (7) business days of the eligible Purchase.
Certain items are excluded from earning and/or using Points. Please consult Department Store staff for the list of exclusions. Points may not be credited to a Member’s account if the Member Card is not presented at the time of the eligible Purchase. Members may request missing Points by submitting a request within three months of the eligible Purchase. Upon presentation of the Card, proof of purchase, and proof of payment, SAMARITAINE will credit the missing Points to the Member’s account within six weeks of the date of the request. No Points can be earned for purchases made more than one month prior to the Member’s registration in the Program.
Points earned are based on the amount spent in local currency, after deduction of taxes, discounts, the value of Points or gift cards/vouchers, or any other equivalent payment method used in the transaction.
Members cannot earn Points when purchasing services (restaurants, beauty services, etc.), items from selected brands, ineligible categories such as tobacco and alcoholic beverages (where applicable law prohibits such earning/conversion or where SAMARITAINE decides, at its sole discretion, not to allow such earning and/or conversion), on any fees or taxes, or on any portion of their purchase made using Points.
No Points may be earned for purchases that are deemed to exceed the following “Reasonable Use Guidelines,” which may be modified by SAMARITAINE at any time without prior notice: purchases of beauty products may not exceed a maximum of six items per product or 24 items per month. Purchases of watches and jewelry may not exceed a maximum of three items per product, regardless of brand, or a maximum of 12 items per month. Purchases of clothing may not exceed a maximum of three items per product or a maximum of 12 items per month. Spirits, wine, and tobacco are subject to local customs regulations and division restrictions. Any misuse of the Card that does not comply with the Reasonable Use Guidelines may result in the permanent termination of the Member’s membership account and the loss of all Points earned, without any right to compensation.
The number of Points earned on each eligible Purchase is based on the Member’s Tier shown below:
- Ambassador (by invitation only): 5 Points
- Diamond: 4 Points
- Platinum: 3 Points
- Gold: 2 Points
- Silver: 2 Points
* Exclusions apply; see in-store display.
The number of Points credited to the Member’s account is calculated by multiplying the eligible Purchases in local currency, excluding tax, by the Points multiplier based on the Member’s Tier. When a Member returns a purchase, the same calculation is used to determine the number of Points that will be removed from the Member’s current Points balance.
6. Conversion of points
Direct purchase
Members can convert Points directly during a transaction with a minimum of 2,000 points. The Conversion can only be made in multiples of 100 points.
The local value, redeemable with 2,000 points is €20.
Points can be converted to purchase items in the Department Store. Unless otherwise specified, Click here for a list of participating brands.
Members must present their Card when converting Points to purchase items in the SAMARITAINE Department Store. The Department Store salesperson may ask to see a valid photo ID from the Member to verify their identity. Converted Points cannot be reinstated, and Points earned are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Points may only be converted by the Member presenting the Card. SAMARITAINE shall not be liable for Points allegedly converted by anyone other than the Member. Only SAMARITAINE records shall be deemed conclusive in determining the balance or deficit of Points in the Member’s account. Members are prohibited from allowing another person to use their accumulated points or from using another member’s points. Failure to comply with this rule is considered a fraudulent act. In the event of suspected fraud, we reserve the right to temporarily suspend the account of the member concerned. An investigation will then be conducted and, if fraud is proven, the member’s account will be permanently terminated.
7. Point deduction for refunds
If the Member returns a product for which Points have been earned, SAMARITAINE reserves the right to deduct the amount of Points earned during the initial purchase transaction from their account. If the Member does not have a sufficient number of available Points to offset the returned purchase, or if the most recent Points balance on the account is negative, the Department Store will issue an exchange instead of a refund.
Transactions paid, in whole or in part, using Points, gift cards, or bonus Points are not eligible for a cash refund. For such transactions, only an exchange for a product of equal value will be permitted.
8. Expiry of points and termination of membership account
Points credited to a Member’s account are valid for 24 months from the date of the eligible Purchase.
Members may terminate their membership account at any time by sending an email torelationsclientele@samaritaine.com or by doing so in-store.
SAMARITAINE may terminate a Member’s account at any time if SAMARITAINE believes that a Member:
- (i) has breached any of these Terms and Conditions;
- (ii) has misused the Program, the Privileges, the Rewards, or the SAMARITAINE CIRCLE Benefits; or
- (iii) is involved in suspected cases of fraud or gross misconduct.
SAMARITAINE also reserves the right to terminate a Member’s account if providing sales or services to the Member would constitute a violation of any applicable international trade and economic sanctions laws (including, without limitation, embargoes, international financial sanctions, and export/import controls) or a breach of the LVMH Group International Sanctions Policy.
In the event of termination of a Member’s account, all accumulated and unredeemed Points will be forfeited.
SAMARITAINE reserves the right to terminate any duplicate Member account and cancel the associated Points balance.
Termination of Membership, for any reason, shall be without prejudice to any other rights, remedies, or damages that SAMARITAINE or the Member may be entitled to pursue.
9. Data protection
For more details on the personal data collected by SAMARITAINE, how Members can exercise their rights as data subjects, and how your personal data will be processed, please refer to SAMARITAINE’s Privacy Policy.
10. Liability
SAMARITAINE shall not be liable to any Member for any loss, damage, or any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the SAMARITAINE CIRCLE membership program, the provision of services, or the provision or refusal to provide any rewards or benefits.
11. Membership transfer agreement
SAMARITAINE reserves the right to assign or transfer its rights and/or obligations under these Terms and Conditions, in whole or in part, including all or any portion of the Program and any associated Member account data, at any time, to any party that, with respect to SAMARITAINE’s obligations, agrees to assume SAMARITAINE’s obligations toward the affected Member under these Terms and Conditions (a “Transfer”).
In the event of a relevant Transfer, the Member will be informed by any means of communication provided by the Member (the “Notice”) within a reasonable period prior to the effective date of the Transfer (the “Notice Period”). At any time during the Notice Period, Members shall have the right to refuse the Transfer (the “Refusal”) by either:
- following the instructions provided in the Notice to express their Refusal, or
- deleting their membership account in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. In the event of a Refusal, the Member’s account will not be transferred and will remain in the SAMARITAINE CIRCLE Program. If you choose to delete your account, you will no longer be eligible to receive the benefits reserved for Members.
Failure to communicate a Refusal to SAMARITAINE during the Notice Period will be deemed acceptance by the Member of the Transfer and the associated Terms and Conditions.
12. Miscellaneous
SAMARITAINE may update or revise these Terms and Conditions, as well as the rewards and benefits, at any time, and such updates and/or revisions will take effect upon publication of the amended version (“New Terms and Conditions”) on SAMARITAINE.com (the “Website”). SAMARITAINE shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from any changes made to the Program or these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement and understanding between SAMARITAINE and a Member with respect to the SAMARITAINE CIRCLE membership program and supersede all prior statements, agreements, and understandings between them regarding the subject matter of these Terms and Conditions.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court or competent authorities, the invalidity or unenforceability of that provision shall not affect the remaining provisions of these Terms and Conditions. All provisions unaffected by such invalidity or unenforceability shall remain in full force and effect. In the event of any inconsistency between the English version of these Terms and Conditions and any other translated version of these Terms and Conditions, the French version shall prevail.
