Epiphany: Our Selection of King Cakes

January 2, 2026

“Infiniment gourmand” King Cakes by Pierre Hermé Paris

The pastry chef and chocolatier is offering four recipes at Samaritaine, each one tastier than the next. Infiniment Amande features a cream enhanced by toasted almonds in a golden puff pastry, while Mogador pairs milk chocolate with tart notes of passion fruit, roasted pineapple, and fruity ganache.

The Galette Façon Pain Perdu adds a deliciously spongy French toast brioche dough to crispy puff pastry. Almond cream and soft caramel finish the confection, recreating all the taste sensations of this irresistible dessert.  Finally, the soft and crispy Brioche Feuilletée Faubourg Saint-Honoré combines flavors of vanilla and rich pecan cream, punctuated with the richness of smooth vanilla caramel.

King Cakes by Nina Métayer

Creative pastry chef Nina Métayer offers the department store three king cakes, including Ambrée, her traditional king cake with deep notes of an exceptional rum that reveals delicate floral and fruity notes. With its exotic amber-toned note, it promises a gourmet experience.

Solstice, her 2026 creation, presents a botanical-patterned tile and a slightly tangy frangipane, thanks to lemon confit and the freshness of verbena. A truly comforting winter treat. With its delicate puff pastry, Arbre de Vie, her 2026 collector king cake, surprises the taste buds with diced apple and cardamom, and offers two ways to enjoy it. Try it cold, for its fruity, nostalgic notes with subtle hints of banana; or warm, for its comforting sweetness with apple and almond accents. A delicious treat that evolves to fit the moment.

At Samaritaine, the start of the new year goes together with deliciousness and creativity!
