In response to the artist’s installation on the Pont Neuf, our department store has devised an artistic and cultural experience.
This season, the Boutique de Loulou will become a space for escape, complementing JR’s work, La Caverne du Pont Neuf, from 23 May to 28 June.
Conceived as a tribute to Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s The Pont Neuf Wrapped, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025, the installation continues on to the Samaritaine Concept Store, which has been transformed into the Caverne Souvenirs for the occasion.
The link between the department store and Paris’s oldest bridge dates back to the Samaritaine’s founding in 1870. Whilst the store takes its name from a water pump located on the Pont-Neuf, both landmarks share a bold architectural style and a modern vision for their time, right in the heart of the capital.
Standing face to face, the Pont Neuf and Samaritaine are once again joining forces in this artistic venture. Within La Caverne Souvenirs, visitors are invited on a sensory journey through an immersive exhibition design paying tribute to JR’s work, alongside a unique selection curated in collaboration with the artist.
The venue invites visitors to explore and escape with lithographs by JR from his collection, others produced for his work at the Pont Neuf, and exclusive new creations available only at Samaritaine. Here, souvenirs can be collected in the form of La Caverne du Pont Neuf postcards, as well as coffee-table books, T-shirts, scarves, fans and a wide range of accessories from Arteum and Au Vieux Campeur. Linked to the history of Samaritaine, this brand was created by the founder of the department store’s dedicated camping section in 1936.
A photo booth extends the experience, allowing visitors to take a souvenir photo of their stay.
